Historical reconstruction

Sediment cores will be analyzed for remains of diatom frustules and dinoflagellate cysts for reconstruction of historical climate from changes in plankton diversity. This will contribute to the understanding of long-term trends in the estuarine ecosystem.

In April 2009 short sediment cores were taken at stations 3 and 5 for analysis of sediment core structure by x-ray analysis and preliminary ²¹⁰Pb analysis to test whether these 2 sites will be suitable for the palaeoecological study.
